What We Do
There are many activities that the chapter participates in. If you can think of it, we probably do it.:: As a Chapter ::
As a chapter, we participate in more formal activities. Over the past two years, we've gone to Chanhassen Dinner Theater to celebrate Founder's Day, seen the Tortuga Twin's at the Minneapolis Women's Theater. We've gone paintballing each semester since Fall 2005 as well as visiting RenFest, some of us in costume. There are pictures on the Photo Gallery of us attending Kurt Goedjen's wedding. He's a recent graduate now on MTAB.:: Social Interactions - Miss Calculation::
Each school year, we have a competition a sweetheart competition called Miss Calculation week. Sororities send us a candidate to compete for the title of Miss Calculation. During that week, we get to know the candidates through various activities as a formal dinner, philanthropic events, and just general hanging out.Some of the philanthropic events we've had during Miss Calculation week include throwing a mini carnival for the kids at the Minneapple Montessori and having a root beer float night to raise money for the Food Shelf Network.
:: Computers and Gaming ::
Lots of computer and video gaming, as well as the table top games (Risk, Magic, Munchkin).Computer Games :: The current flavor of the month is DotA. Other games include StarCraft, D2, CoD, etc.. etc.. Some of the members play WoW, other play MUDs, so there's a lot of diversity. In addition, we have three public computers suitable for homework and studying.
:: Individual Members::
Members from this chapter participate in various types of scientific research, including turbulent flows, particle filtration, and mantle convection. We have presented our results at the Minnesota Undergraduate Symposium, as well as other conferences such as IEEE Vis, Amemrican Geophysical Union general meeting, and the Western Pacific Geophysics Meeting.
